I S-cream, You S-cream, We All S-cream…Let’s Stop Screaming

We All Scream for Ice Cream

We All Scream for Ice Cream!

All over the world, there are many good ideas and opinions. There are many good ideas that seemed like good ideas at the time, but they just didn’t work out; like slavery in the United States. To the slave industrial market of the 17th century,  it didn’t seem like a bad idea… until it wasn’t. Slaves sang:

O Freedom, O freedom, O freedom over me… And before I’ll be a slave, I’ll be buried in my grave and go home to my Lord and be free.” Many made good on that promise.

Perhaps today, the American Slave would be depicted in the news as ‘ungrateful Jihaddists.’ Also today, the ‘Children of Israel‘ making their ‘Exodus’ would have been considered ‘illegal aliens’ in the “Promised Land” as many still hold that same opinion today. Selah (meaning to pause and reflect)

There is a lot of chatter out in the world today Beloveds’ and we have to understand our presence in the world as Christians. We must always make our first consideration: What is written? What does the word of God have to say on this subject or that situation?

In several of the Gospels, we see a record of our Lord Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by Satan himself. Note that Jesus’ temptation came on the heels of His being tired, hungry and isolated from family and friends. Isn’t that when we all seem to be at our most vulnerable? Additionally, this temptation came at the decision point of a great undertaking for Father-God… Jesus’ assignment and agreement to be, The Christ… to take away and upon Himself,  the sins of all human beings on earth; in fact, the sin (downfall) of all creation.

In the Book of Luke, chapter 4:1-12, we see that Jesus spoke to the Arch Angel, Satan-himself; to tell him three times [Note: Holy Trinity]; precisely and concisely that: “…It is written…”

Vs. 4- “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

Vs. 8- “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.”

Vs. 12- “You shall not tempt the Lord your God.”

As mentioned, there is a lot of chatter out in the world today, but some things are truths that do not change (if you are indeed a Christian).

  • We pray for the peace of Jerusalem
  • We extend kindness and charity to everyone we encounter; considering that we would have them do the same on our behalf.
  • We raise up generations after us to respect and honor the word of God and their fellow human beings, created in the very image of God.

POP QUIZ: You’ve just been mugged, beaten and left semi-conscious on the curb without an iPhone. Whom would you rather have stroll around the corner to discover you: The “good” Samaritan that without hesitation, tends to you immediately with care and concern or the “Rich young ruler” {all show and no dough…. all hat and no cattle…} who dots his ‘i’ and crosses his ‘t’ to perfection?

We all have opinions, however, the word of God comes first for Believer’s. Let’s stop screaming.

Be Blessed!

GOT FRUIT?

1 07 2012

Bearing Fruit is seasonal. Bearing fruit happens within an appointed time. After which there is ripeness; which is dependent upon growth; however that can only occur if the plant is able, or has the potential to bear fruit

Ecclesiastes 3:“To ever thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…”   KJV

The above verse lifted from this famous passage of Scripture continues on to describe a variety of times and seasons in life; leaving us to understand that “timing is everything.”

As seen throughout the Bible, the fig tree is representative of various ‘timings’ and forecasts for many of life’s circumstances.

The fig tree represents:

  • Plenty, Potential and Provision
  • Deuteronomy 8:8; I Kings 4:25; Mark 11:13 and Luke 13:7
  •  Warning; (things that are) Uncharacteristic; Untimely; and Out-of-Season
  • Habakkuk 3:17; Joel 1:7; Luke 21:29 and Revelation 6:13
  •  Fear, Destruction and Non-productive
  • Genesis 3:7; Hosea 2:12; Jeremiah 5:17 & 8:13 and Luke 13:7
  •  Rooted and Settled
  • Zechariah 3:10; Isaiah 36:16; Luke 13:6 and Micah 4:4
  •  In-Season and Timeliness
  • Isaiah 34:4; Isaiah 36:16 (again) and Mark 13:28

In Luke 13:7-9, I believe Jesus is allowing us to eavesdrop into the realm of a ‘type’ of conversation between Father-God and Himself (pre-incarnate):

7 Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ 8 but he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that[a] you can cut it down.’  NKJV

If you’ll recall, on other occasions, Father-God became fed-up with humanity continually producing nothing but evil upon the earth and decided to destroy His creation, but He repented (to stop and change direction) as He did with Adam and Eve; Noah and the Ark; the Tower of Babel; Moses and the Israelites in the desert; Sodom and Gomorrah; the city of Nineveh; and many other times too numerous for this small space.

Jesus is mankind’s last hope and the only One standing between sinful, spiritually unproductive; unrepentant humanity and God’s decree of eternal damnation. That’s it folks; that is the bottom-line; everything else is simply a symptom of a bigger condition: Unrepentant sin.

Jesus came to the earth to pay for our sins. HE fertilized around our individual ground-scape with His shed blood; while the Holy Spirit ‘digs’ and tugs at the corners of our heart continually.

Jesus stands ever-ready so that if we confess to Him our sin; repent of our sin and decide to move our scrawny little feeder-roots into the refreshing water of His Word as our Savior (Jesus: the Word made flesh); we can be strengthened; we can be healed; we can be SAVED. The potential is within our grasp.

If doing things ‘your way’ hasn’t been working out… Let’s pray this prayer together:  “Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me; forgive me for forgetting that;   I ask that You wipe my sins away and receive me as your child. I commit myself fully to you.” Amen†

The God Who Heals Me

6 02 2012

Jesus Heals

Just  talked to a Dear-one who is “going through it;” I mean the ‘hit-youwith-the-Kitchen-Sink’ kind of ‘going through it.’

In the scheme of things, a broken bone would be a cleaner type of hurt: This is emotional. Prayer Warriors Unite, so that this Child of God does not become prime rib on Satan’s menu. My view on this subject was stated back in February. Here is a replay:

So often I counsel Believer’s that ask for prayer regarding one ailment or another. As I listen, I am concerned about the lengthy and detailed descriptions of their ailments and what the doctor had to say. Sometimes, I find that I must interrupt in order to get a “prayer in edgewise.”

What if we were just as familiar with what the Word of God said as we are with what the Pharmacist, the Internist or the Specialist had to say? Please don’t misunderstand. I realize the all-consuming nature of sickness. As a teenager I watched my own dear Mother succumb to the fierce ravages of Chronic Leukemia; while she stayed faithful to the Lord right up until her passing at only forty-six years of age.

In addition to the Lord’s call upon my life to Ministry; I also recall the desperate feelings of wanting to “DO” something to stop Mom’s pain; stop the wasting away of her body, strength and life. From that time until this, I have searched out the Scriptures and looked to the Lord for His healing. Our family was part of a denomination which taught that miracles and healings were ‘passed away’… Gone with the last Apostle. We were to simply look forward to ‘making heaven our home–in the sweet by-and-by.’ But I had read in the Bible that: “…heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass away.”

Whom shall we believe? I’ll tell you whom I believe:  Our God is a ‘consuming fire [Hebrews 12:28-29]; mighty in battle [Psalm 24:8]; has overcome the enemy; the last enemy to be defeated is only Death itself; which will flee at His coming. You see, our God is Spirit and those that would worship Him, must worship Him in spirit (our own) and in truth (only His word is truth). John 4:24

So Beloved, get your Bibles out and open them. Read and consume; feast upon the Living Word. It is only through His word and the gift of His Holy Spirit (the very Spirit of Truth) that we have any chance; any chance whatsoever against the ancient enemy of our souls; whether it be physical, mental, emotional or relational in this world-system.

Jesus told us to “Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.” John 16:33   Additionally, let’s start by cracking open our Bible for ourselves in order to find out what are some of the many, many benefits we can stand solidly upon for our wholeness. Let us concentrate ourselves fully to “These things” and place all others in their proper place… as we: Take the medicine prescribed; continue our treatments; and all other prescribed and recommended therapies. Let’s be proactive as we “fight the GOOD fight of faith.”
