Road to Damascus, Again

Beautiful Damascus

Beautiful Damascus

Turn on the National news in the U.S.A. and you’ll invariably hear something about the tragedy and trials of the city of Damascus.

As an average American Christian; other than having learned the account about the Apostle Paul, back when he was still ‘Saul‘, regarding his having had a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ while, ‘On the Road to Damascus,’ I guess most of us don’t know a whole heck of a lot about the city of Damascus.

Well, that all changed for this author when a comment came in about one of our Blogs from a lovely young woman named, Rhula, of Damascus. She sent her picture, she subscribed, she ‘Liked’ us and sent a lovely comment that “as a Christian, she found TN Lighthouse Ministry very interesting and enjoyable.” We are still humbled.

Over the many months as we have heard news of Damascus, Rhula has come to mind and we are always mindful to remember her in our prayers for safety and peace for she and all the people of Damascus.

I am asking the reader’s and even casual lookie-loo’s to this Blog to remember Rhula in your prayers. Remember that there are living human beings… men, women and children behind the headlines.

Many in Damascus have already died and many will not live to see the end of this very day. We are reminded of the souls of the martyrs that live beneath the very altar of Jehovah-God, Almighty and cry out to Him…

“How long? and He replies to them… “Not long!”

Another soul of a martyr that resides there is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who seemed to know prophetically that soon he too would join his brothers and sisters beneath that altar. Listen to his speech (Link below).

Remember Rhula, remember Damascus and remember to pray without ceasing.

As always… Be Blessed!

Scripture Keys:

  • Souls of the martyrs under the altar of God: Revelation 6:9-10-11

We Covet your prayers, we Thank you for your Giving and we Love to Hear from You!  cca

Amen, Awman, Aw-mayn, Ameen, Aman

Safe!

Safe!

Various forms of the word “Amen” is found throughout the Bible, the Torah and the Qur’an. We say it in Church and Temple. We say it when we wholeheartedly agree and we also say it with varying degree’s of sarcasm.

The word ‘amen’ has crossed over from many languages, from the earliest days of recorded history; while still maintaining its general meaning: “So be it, or to confidently affirm, agree or concur with a speaker.”

It is an affirmation, an agreement for the trustworthiness of and belief in, what is being said. The Hebrew word translated as “faith” (to believe)  is “emunah“, derived from the Hebrew rootaman”, meaning to nourish, to make firm and strong; like a nurse or caregiver over the one being cared for nourishes to strengthen and benefit.

In Genesis 15:6 after God showed Abram the countless stars of heaven, telling him that similarly his children would be without number; it is written… “Then he (Abram) believed in the Lord and HE reckoned (or accounted) it to him as righteousness.”

The word ‘believed‘ in Hebrew is listed within Strong’s Concordance as number 539, “Awman,”the root of “amen;” which is the same word used to depict a nurse or mother, holding a child or baby. A baby who is relaxed, fully and expectantly depending and dependent-trusting; to build up, support, to be permanent, settled, and at peace.

Our trust applies to faith: Faith, being a state of relaxation, a posture of rest; not struggling or straining. It is a faith that lies in complete trust ; like the sleeping baby in our arms, we are safe in the arms of the Lord…

Ending our prayers with “Amen” is an act of our faith. We are declaring humbly to the creator of this Universe that we will depend upon Him; trust in Him. We can rest and  relax in the knowledge that HE will bring “it” to pass. Are you at that point in your faith yet or still striving in your own strength?

Ephesians 2:8 should hold a deeper meaning for us now as we read what the Apostle Paul said to those Ephesian Gentiles of his time: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–” NIV

Please enjoy the Love Alive V Choir: 25th Anniversary 1998 of “Safe In the Arms of the Lord” as arranged by the late Bishop Walter Hawkins.  As always: “Be Blessed”

Amen!

UNEVENLY YOKED?

15 08 2012

Christian believer’s marrying  unbeliever’s; Christians marrying ‘other-than’ Christians. It’s not a smart move. In fact, it tore apart the Kingdom of the wisest man on earth, Solomon; who indulged in serial-marraiges to unbeliever’s.

This was a ‘Hot Topic‘ discussed on The View due to comments made by Rev. Pat Robertson in answer to a young man contemplating marrying his Muslim girlfriend of three years: “Don’t!”

The women of The View, headed by Barbara Walters and her gal-pals had much to say on this topic. What do you think?

The Apostle Paul told the Christians of Corinth within his second letter to them:

“Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what partnership has light with darkness?”  2 Corinthians 6:14KJV 2000

What’s a yoke? It is a harness that is placed over the heads of two or more farm animals to keep them moving in the same direction at the same pace.

This “fellowship” and “partnership” is not confined solely to marriage as some teach, but emphasizes a variety of relationships and/or bonds of alliances and agreements. The ‘light vs darkness‘ and ‘righteous vs unrighteous‘ refers to two opposing or strivings (differing) points of view.

Bullocks Yoked

Wedding Rings Symbolize Being Yoked Together In Marriage

As Christians, in kindness and respect, we are to “prefer” one another. “Be kindly affectioned  one to another  with  brotherly love;  in honour  preferring  one another…”   Romans 12:10 KJV

This writer has always experienced good success when utilizing the services, skills, and purchasing through ‘acknowledging’ Christians.

For example: Our outdoor faucet (hose bib) cracked and was spewing water (small lake) in the back yard. When our failing efforts came to a close; as Richard Dawson, the original host of The Family Feud would say: And the answer is!” Call the Plumber. We did.

We prayed and opened the phone book. The Ichthys, or “sign of the fish” displayed in his listing was a great hint that he was a Christian Believer too. IchthysPraise God, not only did he keep his scheduled arrival as promised, work expertly, neatly, professionally, and friendly; he did many, many extra’s. Prayers had gone up regarding some ‘other’ needs we had for the yard, but lacked the muscle and/or tools to see to them.

This Christian Plumber took care of our plumbing needs and a few days later came back to take care of our yard ‘wants’ as well. We hadn’t told anyone about what we wanted, but Jesus.

When Dave showed up with the big tools and equipment, did the work with a big smile and refused to charge us a dime for his help; we praised God! Dave was moved only by the Spirit of the Lord. God used him to provide the fulfillment of the desires of our hearts.  Dave is and will be blessed, as will his business.

For the task at hand, we prayed, moved in faith and  ‘yoked’ or attached ourselves into the capable hands of a Christian Believer whom God used for His glory and to the benefit of us all. That is just how completely the Lord Jesus works through The Holy Spirit in the world today.

So: Pray, submit yourself to the will of God in all that you do and before you do whatever it is you need to do… Get it straight with the Lord first. Don’t leave Him out of your plans, alliances, friendships, contracts or any aspect of your life.

This describes what the Lord God told Joshua as he embarked on entering ‘The Promised Land‘ filled with its’ many blessings and many challenges: “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” Joshua 1:8 NKJV

Unevenly yoked in marriage, friendships, partnerships, contracts and alliances? Seek the Lord Jesus in prayer, and study your Bible. HE is the answer to all of our challenges.  Be Blessed!

CAPTURING THOUGHTS

Capturing Every Thought

Capturing Every Thought

“Demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  II Cor. 10:5 NIV

So okay… Most of us admit we fall down a lot when it comes to  actually applying the above referenced Scripture, right?  What’s that? Did I see some raised eyebrows back there among you? Well, here’s another question: How well have the last 70 days been since making that New Year’s Resolution? How is Lent going? Umhmm, thought so (me too).

Be sure to read the entirety of the second letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church at Corinth. His letter taught us about putting on the armour of God. Verse 5 describes what that armour empowers us to “DO” if we use it. Keep in mind that the armour isn’t againstfolks out there,” but it is to protect the Believer (us) from satan getting his hooks into us: body, soul and spirit.

We can be just like Garfield’s friend, Little Odie – out there bouncing-back and going after his goal. As Believer’s in the Lord Jesus Christ, we have the advantage of being able to always seek Him through His Word so that we can train ourselves to: Think like God thinks; speak like God speaks, and do what God does.

Alright, I could hear you cheering until you got to that last one: Do what God does.” We know it’s true, but we (gulp) agree and then rarely take Him at His word; like when He said:

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12 NIV

Just a small side note: Notice Jesus says “anyone?” That pretty much includes YOU and me; not just Apostles or ancient folks in ancient times. Similarly, Jesus said, ‘whoever’ or ‘whosoever’ ~ depending on your Bible translation. It’s an all-inclusive pronoun. However, let’s also note that it is dependent upon some action on our part… Faith.

Sometimes it can feel lonely as we walk this ‘narrow way’, but Jesus is with us every step of the way.  Know this too, that somewhere out there I’m jumping like Odie, after my own life-butterflies… Capturing thoughts and imaginations and every high thing that would (try) to exalt itself in my mind and heart against the knowledge ~ against what is sure enough known to be true ~ in the Word of God.

Let’s say it together… Let’s get in one of those holy huddles like they do during the NFL Championship games… Let’s all put our hearts and hands together saying:

“… I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME !”                     Phil. 4:13 NIV

Now let’s get out there with our own butterfly nets and start capturing those negative thoughts, imaginations and everything the enemy of our soul throws our way in his desire to make the Word of God a lie in order to defeat our faith.

TN Lighthouse Ministries is praying for you, and  there are folks connected with this Ministry from all over the world praying for you… India, Greece, Japan, El Salvador, all over the United States of America, Canada, Africa, Brazil… the list goes on and on…

Let us lift each other in prayer as we lift up the name of the only One who died for us and lives forever; making intercession for us all: JESUS, our Lord and Savior.

To Him be Glory forever~ Amen!       Be Blessed, The Lightkeeper

Running To and Fro

With Loving Kindness

Recently, a gentleman asked if I had heard of Tr–s Di–s and mentioned 72 hour weekend “gatherings” networking America and if I was interested. It was basically a recruiting email.  This was my reply to him.

Hi ‘Johnny’ (Not his real name)

After doing an online search of Tr–s Di–s, I must state that in addition to previous (Extensive) experiences with this type of thing, I personally have no interest in these methods. I pretty much stand by the Apostle Paul: “All I know is Christ and Him crucified.” I Cor. 2:2.  My search for an intimate relationship with Christ begins and ends with the Bible. What you or anyone else decides to do is for the Lord to judge.

If I were sitting across my table talking to you, you’d not hear a harsh tone, so I hope these written words do not ring harshly in your spirit-man for they are offered in loving kindness. However, as my dear Texas husband says, “This ain’t my first Rodeo,” (with these types of methods).

Some of the methods I went through beginning in the early 1970’s through the late 80’s while searching for a closer walk with the Lord was: Moorish Americanism,  the Rosicrucian’s, Native American Believer-Groups, New Age Spiritisms, Universalist Groups, Theophostics Gatherings, Emmaus-Walk folks, various Focused Cell Groups, and many others.

So, all this to say: “Been there-Done that” and (for me) nothing is better than your Bible (an edition that you enjoy), perhaps an Amplified or Study Bible close-by; a few well-written commentaries; a Hebrew/Greek Dictionary and a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance. Add all those things together with a prayerful, reverent heart of loving Praise before the Lord and at least a mustard-grain-dash of Faith and there is NOTHING that the Lord won’t show you through the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for service in ministering to those in prison. For us all, I suggest we use our weekends to feed the poor; drive the sick and shut-in to their appointments; pray for a young couple facing challenges in their marriage; be a friend to a fatherless teen and ask nothing-nothing in return. Let’s take our “covered dish” and contributions to a homeless shelter (I have lived there too) while sharing His word and in this way you will know the closeness of the Lord Jesus as you serve His sheep; then you will grow in your knowledge of Him.  This is our reasonable service. This is Kingdom work. I invite you to read my blog: https://tnlighthouse.wordpress.com.  TN Lighthouse Ministries only comes out three times a week so I don’t become a nuisance to your “inbox.”

You know ‘Johnny’, Jesus spoke in the book of Matthew 24:26 and also see Daniel 12:4~ That in the last days people would run to and fro seeking Him and seeking more and more knowledge (of Him-on their own terms), but He told us “not” to go where they directed; saying “Lo He is in the desert and Lo He is in the inner room.

Bottom-line, that is what I think these types of gatherings. I believe the people involved are probably loving and sincere; I don’t believe the underlying spirit that crafted these methods is of God.

Let’s pray: “Father-God, we ask that the mind of our understanding be enlightened by your Word and that our hearts receive your instructions and directions through your Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth. Please lead, guide and direct my Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus and Lord, please lead me too in your care and keeping, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.    Be Blessed     The Lightkeeper

In the Scheme of Things

31 12 2011
I'm Just Sayin'

I'm Just Sayin'

Faith in the Lord Jesus… It is all a matter of choice. That choice is totally our own.

I was reminded of this fact while ministering to someone quite dear to me who wants to believe in everything under the sun: Every theological point of view; every religious practice; every ancient rite or ritual that is back in vogue; just everything.

The odd bit about that is if you’ll fall for anything, you won’t stand for anything. Having reached that certain age where you inevitably begin to “take stock,” they seem dissatisfied with their life.

However, as I struggled to break through decades of new-age-intellectual-spiritualism; I saw what the years of ‘questioning and reasoning‘ have produced: A self-imposed bondage, like a hamster caught on the wheel of ceaseless questions, investigation and more questions.

That very thing is spoken of in the Bible :  II Timothy 3:7                                                                “…ever learning, but never able to acknowledge the truth.” (N.I.V)

Yet, I continue to pray for them, for you and for me. There is a wonderful song by The Williams Brothers that I would love to insert into this post for your listening pleasure; alas, I am still on the WordPress-Learning-Curve (hey, it takes some folks longer–get over it).  So until I learn to do that, simply go to YouTube and enter the song title: “I’m Just A Nobody” by The Williams Brothers (accept no substitutes). The song lyrics describe my ministry efforts perfectly:

“I’m just a nobody,

trying to tell everybody,

about Somebody,

who can save anybody.”

Think about this too: It was NEVER the scholars, never the wise, the rich, the extremely privileged or the ‘top dawgs’ of this world that really “Got” the message of Jesus.

It was usually those at their lowest point; those that mourn (depressed?); those that hunger and thirst after righteousness (sick of the mess in themselves and this world-system); and those that have been given no hope (terminal illness?).

That is why I get excited when I read in the Bible about “when we were dead in our sins, Christ died for us; and also how He (Jesus) came to set the captives free!” Hallelujah, because I was captive; I was orphan; I was without hope and alone in this world and a sinner; but I heard Him whisper my name in the midst of my mess and I’ll never be the same.

Jesus is my source and resource. Jesus is the One I look to and lean upon. He is the One who is merciful enough to allow me to grow in His grace.

I say with the Apostle Paul:

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended, but this one thing I do: Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:13-14

Pick up your Bible today and press in to Him. Proverbs 3:5 tells me to “ Trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding, but in all my ways acknowledge Him and He will direct my path.”

Folks, it wasn’t until I began to personalize the Scriptures that the Holy Spirit opened the way of the Lord wide to me.

So, “In the scheme of things“, as we look out to a new year upon the horizon, can we afford to stay stuck on our hamster wheels much longer? Don’t mind me,  I’m just sayin’.      Be Blessed

OCCUPY 100%

30 11 2011

OCCUPY 100%

The Occupy 99% is a reality of our times. Jesus was all ‘for’ Occupy and even gave a parable about doing just that within the Book of Luke. Occupy is simply defined as: “to use.” Christians are to 100% ‘Occupy/Use’—Good sense; use inclusivity; use love for self and others; to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit. How do we do this? When we “Obey” as recorded within the Bible:

  • Deut. 11:27~Obey the commandments (yeah… all Ten).
  • I Samuel 15:22~to ‘obey’ is better than sacrifice.
  • Jeremiah 7:23~God says: “Obey my voice…that it may be well with you.”
  • Matthew 8:27 and Mark 1:27~It is recorded that: The wind, the sea and the unclean spirits responsible for disease, sickness and all mental/physiological torment ‘obeyed’ the Lord Jesus; even His name.
  • Acts 5:29~The Apostle Paul plainly states that: “We ought to ‘obey’ God.” Christians understand that God keeps His word, because God is His word and Jesus isthe word made flesh’ (John 1:14). Is that not reason enough why we “ought” to ‘obey’ God?

Knowing this, we as Christians are to ‘Occupy’; by living and standing upon the word of God, until the Lord comes again. In the Book of Jeremiah 17:7~God gives us the results of our obedience in Him saying: “Blessed is the person that trusts in the Lord and whose hope the Lord is.” So, go ahead, “OCCUPY 100%!”              For confidential prayer; spiritual counseling, the Lords’ Healing or to support this Teaching Ministry, Email: Lighthouse@gmail.com ~ Be Blessed
