Primary Colors Was Right

20 02 2014

Just watched the movie “Primary Colors” through “On Demand.”   Cathy Bates was fantastic as the ‘all heart, ‘Get er done’ campaign promoter.    At one point her character gets so fed up with the campaign’s hypocrisy, she states:

“I will burn this village in order to save it…”MSDPRCO EC006       Primary Colors

My take away is that she was willing to tell the truth and not blink regarding the possible fall-out of the consequences; even if all that she’d help build was (metaphorically) destroyed in the process.

That kind of passion reminded me that Our Lord and Savior gave his very life for the truth that the Kingdom of Heaven is within us since HE came to bring us that very truth.

At one point, Jesus looked upon Solomon’s (original) Temple in Jerusalem; having over time, disintegrated into a symbol of artificial religion run amok.    Self-promotion had swept the people so far off course with its’ hierarchical rules and fake regulations that few if any could adhere to; let alone the leaders that espoused same. HE commented (prophesied) to His disciples that: “… a day will come when not one stone will stand upon another…”

From the comfort of my leather theater chair in my den, this writer tearfully watched the city of Kiev Ukraine go up in flames on the evening news.    Praying, “Lord help them…  Lord have mercy for rulers that would kill their own people whose only crime is that they are tired of their leaders’ self-promotions for his personal gains.”

Daily, we drive by countless semi-empty Churches where ministers refuse to let go of the egocentric reigns of power and allow the Giftings of the Holy Spirit to flow among the people; meeting spiritual needs of healings both internal and external; preferring in His place, works of the flesh: Raffles, fundraisers, various programs, and awards.

Watching Primary Colors and hearing that line delivered so passionately by the actress, Cathy Bates; I was reminded of something our Lord Jesus said:

Matthew 16:15-19    –   New International Version (N.I.V.)
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah (the Christ), the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[c] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in heaven.”

Footnotes:
Matthew 16:18 The Greek word for Peter means rock.
Matthew 16:18 Hades; That is, the realm of the dead
Matthew 16:19 Or will have been
Matthew 16:19 Or will have been
*Thanks to the good folks at Biblegateway.com  always

Our focus: Verse 19 “…and the gates of Hades will not overcome it…”

Satan wants the Church to die…   By any means necessary.    If he has to promote people who would run off believer’s in droves through offense, schisms, made-up rules and downright lies…   Well, so be it as far as he’s concerned.    You must understand by now that Satan never has played fair.

However, although our Lord did not say that a grave-like death will not COME to the Church; He DID say that the grave-like death will NOT Overcome the Church.

The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is alive and well in the hearts of men and woman all over the world, because of the Holy Spirit.    Church is not owned by any one group; any one race; any one political party; or denomination…    Church is not a religion.      Praise God for that!

No, the authentic Church (the gathering of the Ecclesia or ‘the called-out’ one’s the Believer’s) of the Lord Jesus Christ cannot be held in the grave (a lifeless state of being) any more than its’ founding Father could be held in the grave; for He is Life.

The authentic Church of the Lord Jesus, the Christ, cannot be held and compartmentalized within four walls and upon hard pews once a week for 45-90 minutes; reduced to one fast hymn, one slow hymn and two collections.

We may be meeting in small groups; meeting in homes; meeting in restaurants; found hand holding and sharing prayers during a hasty lunchtime or chatting about the love of Christ in the side aisle of a store, but “We” are alive and we are well!   We are loving one another as we see the Day approaching of HIS return.

The prerequisite for having the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven was belief that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the son of the Living God.    If you believe that, then let us BIND the works of the ego and LOOSE the love of Christ onto whosoever is willing.  Let us BIND the ravaging spirit of murder and LOOSE the Peace of Christ to our own hearts (first) and plead the same in His name as we remember: The people of Kiev, the people of Syria, the people of the Sudan, the people of Afghanistan, the people of Egypt, the people of Turkey, the people of America, the people if Iraq, the people of Jordan, and the people of Iran.    Let us LOOSE the power of Grace to those who are: Angry; bitter; stressed; homeless; lonely; mourning; those on drugs and hating their addictions; the sick; the elderly and the people who must make a life or death decision at this very moment!   Grace to you… and the Peace of our Lord Jesus; the Prince of Peace.    May this Spirit of the Living God rest upon you; keeping your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.  Amen
Unlocking Dreams

We BIND the spirit of despair and LOOSE the power of Peace and Love to the leaders of all those half-empty Churches who are at the brink and tempted to sell-out for money; tempted to turn away from God’s Word and seek self-fame or those on the verge of giving up in hopelessness.

“We” say to you: Choose Life, choose Love, choose Peace…   Choose Jesus.

If you must tear up your five-year plan; your too-good-to-be-true contract; or perhaps finally confront that Simon-the-Sorcerer-manipulating member who holds out huge “Donations” in order to get their way, and if you must rip up your people-pleasing sermon that shades the Word of God to no effect— If you must destroy all of this; only to repent and start anew…    So be it!

Repentance

We must be willing to effectively “…burn this village in order to save it!”   Amen.

Be Blessed!    The Light Keeper

Indie Jesus

29 05 2013

There is a stark contrast going on between what we read of our Lord Jesus in Scripture as opposed to what is marketed about Him.                             Here at TN Lighthouse Ministries, that has been our main focus: Dispensing with the hype and seeking out a deeper understanding through the Word of God.

We see the Lord Jesus as someone who would today be called an “Indie” or independent thinker. Ever notice how HE didn’t fit the mold and seek to join the religious institutions of His time? For example:

10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”  Matthew 9:10-13 NIV

Sadly, just as in Jesus’ day, many of the hierarchical, fraternal or ‘Mom and Pop’ institutions being run today bear little resemblance to what our Lord reveals to us throughout the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible. Today, our Lord Jesus would be considered an “Indie”…“Independent” or itinerant preacher and teacher. Some have even called Him a Revolutionary since Jesus’ teachings expanded on the Pentateuch [the first five books of the Bible (a.k.a) the Laws of Moses/Mosaic Law]. Not only that, but as we see in the passage above, He lived what he preached. Will we too be as brave?

Prayer:  “Lord Jesus, let us not be controlled by people-pleasing, but strengthen us to fearlessly do Your will                                       in the earth this day.” Amen

Be Blessed!

Stranger Danger

Hitching A Ride

Hitching A Ride

As the New Year looms on the horizon, my inbox overflows, with multi-media Prophetic pronouncements for 2013. There are a lot of cotton candy scenarios and hefty sprinklings of Fairy dust being digitized lately, masquerading as ‘prophetic’ utterances. By no means is your humble servant, the Light keeper, becoming jaded or cynical; considering we survived the Eighties- ‘If it didn’t happen then’…you see my point.

However, something (The Holy Spirit) keeps nibbling around the edges of our spirit; floating back like the refrain of an old beloved hymn; it’s that comment that our Lord Jesus made during a very well documented teaching session recorded (below):

27 My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me, 28 and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father gave them to me, and he is greater than all others. [a] No one can snatch them from his hands, 30 and I am one with the Father.      John 10:27-30 C.E.V.

Before anyone wants to get ‘all mystic,’ or presupposes that we are; consider this: Go to any playground in the world and watch dozens of children at play. Also watch carefully to see what happens when a parent of one those children calls their child. Invariably, the other children hear ‘a voice,’ but they just keep right on playing, but the child whose parent calls to them immediately recognizes the parents voice above all the other sounds in the area. The child responds.

Consider this also, that in the Prophesies of 2013 floated out thus far; mainly there is nothing (and we mean absolutely nothing) given for us sheep to chew on, reflect on, strive toward, believe for, or develop upon. All that is required is for us to: Open our hand (or mouth) and ‘get.’ Get blessed, get graced, get stuff, and get more stuff!

Stop us if we’re wrong (and I’m sure you will), but throughout the pages of what our Heavenly Father wrote down for us [the Holy Bible]; we participate in this Love relationship; even the free gift of salvation requires confession and belief. [Rom. 10:9] Additionally, let’s review Matthew 7 for example, where our Lord Jesus starts off telling us what our part of Kingdom relationship looks like:

  • “Do not”… Verses 1 – 6
  • “Ask”…. Verses 7-10

    Sermon on the Mount

    Sermon on the Mount

  • “Give”… Verses 11-12
  • “Enter”… Verses 13-14

No lights, no cameras, but plenty of Action! It’s up to us to ‘Do’ something.

So, from one sheep to another who shares the same Heavenly Father, don’t go trotting off behind some stranger dangling a prophecy that just ‘sounds’ a lot like our Heavenly Dad, but it really isn’t Him.

What it comes down to:

If…You know Him, you know His word, so you know His voice, then you know better!

2013 will be Perfect?

2013 will be Perfect?

Don’t get in the car with a strangers promising you something for nothing.

Our Dad never does that!

And as always,

Be Blessed

The Bible and Prejudice

18 11 2012

James on Prejudice: Chapter 2: 1-10 Amplified Bible in Italics

From the very first verse of James’ second chapter, he tells us very directly; ‘Don’t even THINK about practicing the faith of Jesus with that kind of snobbery.’

Vs 2 (AKJV) “My brethren, pay no servile regard to people {show no prejudice, no partiality}. Do not [attempt to] hold and practice the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ [the Lord] of glory [together with snobbery]!”

Being born and reared in the shadow of the “City of Brotherly Love,” [that would be Philadelphia, for the uninitiated] with its’ friendliness and famous outspoken ‘directness’ regarding the practice of fairness; I have a special mouthy-activists’ warmth for James and the Book of James.

I’ve often considered that James had a particular level of ‘heat’ with his messages to growing number of Believer’s of Jesus. You see, James was the brother of our Lord Jesus. Many of us already ‘knew’ that… That’s nothing that needs deep research to uncover; in fact, it’s probably at the footnote of any Bible that contains footnotes.

However, James growing up in the household of Joseph and Mary didn’t really have a clue that his older brother, Jesus was the incarnate God-Our-Deliverer; Emmanuel. Perhaps, like most siblings, James didn’t consider his brother, ‘ Ye’shuah’, as anything special one way or the other. Now, our Lord Jesus had more than one sibling; which included at least another brother and definitely a couple of sisters.

It is the Light Keeper’s contention that James was probably the very brother that stood outside of one of Jesus’ earlier meetings with their Mum, Mary, and sent word that they were waiting to have a ‘word’ with him… outside.

Matthew 12:46-50

Amplified Bible (AMP)

46 Jesus was still speaking to the people when behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to Him. 47 [a]Someone said to Him, Listen! Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak to You.48 But He replied to the man who told Him, Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?49 And stretching out His hand toward [not only the twelve disciples but all] [b]His adherents, He said, Here are My mother and My brothers .50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother!

Footnotes:Matthew 12:47 Some manuscripts omit verse 47.

Let’s think about it folks: If you owned a small family business dependent upon manual labor and the oldest kid was gone most of the time, hanging out with twelve of his ‘Buds’ and chatting it up in the local chat room; you’d probably want to have a little talk with him too. In fact, to bring out the ‘big guns’ it would be a good idea to bring ‘Mom’ on board to straighten him out and tell him a thing or two.

Why do we think human nature is so very different in the first century than today? However, that’s another topic for another day. All we’re saying is that James, didn’t believe that Ye’shuah was any more the ‘Son of God,’ and the prophesied Messiah than… pigs could fly!

It is after: After, James hears of the miracles, after he hears about some of the profound things his brother reportedly said, after hearing of the resurrection of Lazarus, but skipping ahead; it is definitely after the crucifixion and His personal resurrection visitation that James believes and understands.

The Book of James is a fabulous book, written by a man who no longer will tolerate life with blinders attached. Here is a man who now ‘sees’ what and whom he had right beside him and available to him every day of his life and he’d missed it, because he wouldn’t open his heart and see his own sibling with love.

Are we following the dictates of society, closing our eyes and hearts to the loving truth all around us? I invite you to take another look at the mighty book of James, the Brother of our Lord Jesus and hear his confident pleadings of one who knows how easy it is to ‘blow a good thing right in front of your face’! All due to preconceived notions… Prejudice.

Until next time and as always, “Be Blessed!”

The Light Keeper is THANKFUL for the reader’s of TN Lighthouse Ministries. Don’t forget, we are available for speaking engagements, weddings, wakes and Bar Mitzvah‘s (okay–maybe not that last part), but you get the idea.

And the Horse Died?

26 10 2012

‘And the horse…what?”

One of my ‘crazy’ Uncle’s used to tell an old silly story that he grew up in a town that was so poor that it was…

“A One-Horse town… and the Horse died.”

Horses have been utilized over time to denote humanity’s wealth, strength, abundance, mobility and ability. Isaiah warns us not to rely on the help and seeming strength of anything other than the Lord. Let’s visit the word and we look forward to hearing what you think about this passage.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
    who rely on horses,
who trust in the multitude of their chariots
and in the great strength of their horsemen,
but do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
or seek help from the Lord.

Isaiah 31:1 New International Version

At the time of Isaiah’s writing, Egypt was one of the largest and most organized governments known to humanity; therefore the use of their name calls up an image of a high standard to represent man-made governance. Additionally, “horses, chariots and horsemen” are also representative of  well-established military strength.

However, even Egypt had experienced defeats from lesser armies and had sometimes not followed through on pledges to support allied governments during times of war.

Therefore, the Prophet Isaiah is telling us that as the human spirit can be unstable, we need to make the Lord God  our “North Point” on our compass of life. Today, we’d say that the Lord Jesus is our “Default Screen;” so that no matter how many times we are turned on or turned off and even if our systems ‘crash,’ we can know we have a Savior we can trust in and rely upon… The Lord Jesus needs to be our “Start-up as well as our Back-up” plan.

Let us believe along with the Psalmist:

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.   ~ Psalms 121:2 New International Version

Be Blessed!

Bless the Lord O My Soul

16 10 2012
Bless the Lord !

Bless the Lord !

O Lord You are my God

I will exalt You,

I will praise You name,

For You have done wonderful things;

Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

For You have made a city a ruin,

A fortified city a ruin,

A palace of foreigners to be a city no more;

It will never be rebuilt,

Therefore the strong people will glorify You;

The city of the terrible nations will fear You.

For You have been a strength to the poor,

A strength to the needy in his distress,

A refuge from the storm,

A shade from the heat;

For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against a wall.      Isaiah 25: 1-5     NKJV

The Lord God allowed His servant, the Prophet Isaiah to see in progression, a view to the ‘End of the age’ with it’s destructions and disobedience of humanity in addition to the mighty hand of God’s wrath in response.

Even in the midst of overwhelming visions of things to come, Isaiah knows that God Almighty still makes a refuge for those who love and reverentially fear Him.

I believe this declaration of loving, worshipful praise broke free from the heart of Isaiah just as it did to his predecessor, King David within Psalm 103 (ref. verse 1).

How can we not ‘Bless the Lord’ from the bottom of hearts, from the depths of our soul?

Let us: Magnify the Lord, exalt His name. Our God sits high and looks low, blessing those who love Him with their whole heart. If you don’t know the Lord, you can stop right where you are and ask Him into your heart today.

Let’s Pray:  “Lord Jesus, I ask Your forgiveness. Only You can forgive my sin. I believe you died on the cross for me. Please come into my heart today.” Amen

If you prayed that prayer today, please contact us through the comment line.

Always to Pray and Not Faint

9 10 2012

Dear Reader: Comfort those who are fearful of things coming into the world today. There is a tendancy toward self protection; which is only natural… right?

Let’s visit the book of I Chronicles and see how ‘narrowly calculating’ for self protection, instead of wide-armed worship of God‘s protection got King David into big trouble:

“And Joab answered, “The Lord makes His people an hundred times so many more as they be: But my Lord King, are they not all your servants? Why then does my King require this thing?” I Chron.21:3  & II Samuel 24:3

Reference: I Chronicles 21:-All and II Samuel 24:-All

King David was taking a census. He wanted to know who and how many he could ‘count on’ if Israel was invaded by outlying threats of war and destruction.

How many times have we too counted our money, counted our friends -the ones who could help if there was ever a time of need; satisfied ourselves with the number of goods in supply… just in case? We don’t relax. Often we inwardly await the next problem and tighten our grip on life. Sadly, we teach our loved ones to do the same. We are truly blessed if we have a friend like Joab, who warns us to…                 “knock it off!”

We are doubly blessed in the wisdom of God if we act on the advice. Let’s look inside our heart. Is that what is really going on? Are we ‘calculating‘ for self protection and leading our loved ones to do the same?

How about we open our minds wide in knowledge of God’s word? Let us open our hearts wide in prayer; open our arms wide in gratitude for our Lord and Saviour Jesus; truly our best friend, who teaches us: Always to pray and not faint.”see Luke 18:1

Until next time and as always… Be Blessed!
