Objects In Mirror Are Closer…

28 05 2012
Uh Oh!

Closer Than It Appears

If the above picture pretty much captures how life’s challenges are ‘bearing’ down on you (pardon the pun) then you’re not alone!

In fact, that’s what I want to share with you today: You truly ARE never alone. Our creator is ever-present and never-changing. Our creator; Heavenly Father; our Lord is not distant. To the contrary, He is only a prayer away.

God never changes… that’s the good news…. however, our perception of Him changes… that should be ‘the better’ news. If the Lord seems more distant than when you last checked; perhaps you’re not giving Him enough of your time and attention? Maybe the Grizzly in the mirror is taking up more space than he deserves? After all; he’s only an image in the rear-view mirror.

Let’s spend more “Selah” time (Selah=Pause and reflect) with our Heavenly Father who never changes His mind about loving YOU.

Some good Bible passages that can help you press the gas pedal a little harder in order to make that bear look a whole lot smaller:

Malachi 3:6

Philippians 2:12-16

Until next time: Be Blessed!

PS: Pop Quiz, “How has the Lord helped you to make your Grizzly small?”

LBGT No Turning Back

Hiding Slaves 1800's

The Root Cellar

Hymn Lyrics: “I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Him; I have decided to follow Jesus: No turning back, no turning back. The Cross before me; the world behind me; the Cross before me; the world behind me… No turning back; no turning back.” By, S. Sundar Singh  For the song history and a great story visit: http://jasonhunsicker.blogspot.com/2009/05/i-have-decided-to-follow-jesus.html

Have we noticed that there has been a lot of conversation nationally regarding the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community? The Lightkeeper is old enough to remember when Civil Rights for the “Negro” were the focus of national conversation; even appearing as a much-discussed topic within our small interracial community of circa 1960’s New Jersey. To coin a phrase from the President that the Lightkeeper first recognized (At 8 years old):

Let me say this, about that…” {John F. Kennedy}

As for me and my household: We will love. We will not hide behind the word of God to use His word as a weapon or as an excuse NOT to love; which in itself makes the word of God into a lie, in as much that God (Himself) is love.

Another interesting point is what God’s word has to say about who is and who is not going to inherit eternal life with Him: Revelation 21: 1-8 NIV; all Bible references Link-back to www.Biblegateway.com

21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a](A) for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away,(B) and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City,(C) the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,(D) prepared as a bride(E) beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.(F) They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.(G) 4‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes.(H) There will be no more death’[b](I) or mourning or crying or pain,(J) for the old order of things has passed away.”(K)5 He who was seated on the throne (L) said, “I am making everything new!”(M) Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”(N)6 He said to me: “It is done. (O) I am the Alpha and the Omega,(P) the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost(Q) from the spring of the water of life.(R) 7Those who are victorious(S) will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.(T) 8But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars(U)—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur.(V) This is the second death.”(W)

Let’s direct our attention to verse 8~”But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

There are more references and warnings against being “fearful” or “cowardly” in the Bible than about (the practice of) homosexuality. Additionally, there are more references and warnings against unbelieving (faithlessness, little faith, doubt), idolatry, liars and lust (whoremongers) than homosexuality too.

What do we know for sure? Lord God, JVH, made all humans. Satan hates all humans. Jesus commanded us to love one another, explicitly. HE did not command us to judge one another; since only HE is the righteous judge in consideration of what He went through on the Cross; coming to earth as a volunteer to die in our place and receive the (just) punishment for us all: Straight or Gay; all enslaved by the sin of this World System (‘the old order’ of things; ref. Rev. 21:4 NIV).

We are to be busily working out our own salvation with reverential fear before the all-seeing eyes of our Creator; with Jesus as our attorney-High Priest and staunchest advocate; pleading forever on our behalf as we look only to Him based upon His free invitation… No charge… Pro Bono… Free, because He paid it all on the Cross at Calvary.

Since He paid it all for me and for you on Calvary; we can AFFORD to be gracious to all we encounter along the way toward eternal life. We can AFFORD to love and we can dip up more love from Jesus’ limitless well whenever we are dry and thirsty from the dust storms of this world.

If we could trace the history of every human being from their present state or frame of mind to when/how that outlook was formed in them; we will surely find somewhere along the way; a lack of love in some form or another. How this is played out in one’s life is as unique and numerous as snowflakes in a blizzard. Example: One father is abusive to his son and his son becomes Mozart; another father is abusive to his son and he becomes Jeffrey Dahmer.

Those who are cowards/fearful; those who don’t believe/trust (anything or anyone) and all these ways of ‘being’ in the earth has produced: The murderer; the whoremonger; the thief; the liar; the sexual immoral of all kinds; the idol worshipper; those who practice (rely on) magic arts; and those who are vile.

Jesus is wisdom and love personified. So what was the remedy from the Perfected One? “…Love ye one another …and again I say, love ye one another” John 13:35.  Also “Love God and love your neighbor (fellow-human) as yourself” Matthew 22:36. That is a tall order. That will take a lifetime to fulfill. That keeps us looking at Jesus and then looking at ourselves; then looking at Jesus and then checking back with ourselves… You get the idea.

In the meantime, when I come across you (fellow-human) in the streets or within the workplace or anywhere in the earth; I have one thing and one thing only to do regarding you: Love you as I love myself. That’s it! That’s all folks! Is that too simplistic? Well, Jesus said to “Take my yoke… it’s easy…”

Matthew 11: 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” NKJV

Getting back to the LBGT community: Thank God we don’t have to hide LBGT folks in the root cellar like the runaway slaves. Perhaps this post will be the TN Lighthouse ‘root cellar’ moment. Just like some white and Native American people of the 1800’s who hid the black slaves; risking their lives and reputations: They risked all to love.

As a minister of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ; I have decided to follow Jesus. I will risk to love. I lay down all pretenses and will not shirk or skirt the issue. I will love my homosexual brother and sister. That is the last thing my Master, the Lord Jesus, the Christ told me to do: “Love my neighbor, [my fellow human being] as I love myself.”

No turning back, no turning back.   Be Blessed!

Betty Boop – Kiss

Keep It Simple Sweetie or K.I.S.S. is a fun acronym.

At TN Lighthouse Ministries, it is of paramount importance to spend time listening with others in the course of the day. Mainly we find people searching to make sense of a past or present experience.

As the Lightkeeper, the lantern must be lifted high so that the Light may shine brightly, illuminating the dark corners. Yes, often there are things in our lives scurrying away, just off the periphery. Remedy: Keep shining the (progressive) Light of the word of God.

“The teacher’s purpose is to set the class thinking; to guide them gently into the world… to help them forget for a few hours [moments] the stresses of the outside world.”  *

Lately, that guidance has been to compassionately release someone from the bonds of a pain-filled history into the healing truth of a new story. We all have history or her-story. Often those stories bring much pain, torment and bondage into our ‘now,’ keeping us from moving forward.

Many people say, “…the truth will set you free;” however, that is inaccurate. What Jesus said was perfectly complete (as always); which was, “If you continue in my word, (hold fast to, adhere and act in accordance with my word) then you are my disciples (disciplined ones) indeed; and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (Make: to progressively enable)        John 8:32

Take Another Look:

After arresting Jesus, slapping Him around and dragging Him before a Roman politician who asks if He was a King and exactly what He had done wrong? Jesus replied: “You say rightly that I am a King. For this cause I was born and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice.” Then Pontius Pilate said to him, “what is truth?”

John 18:37-38

The Lord Jesus had spent 3 ½ years up until that point diligently preaching, teaching and demonstrating ‘truth’ to whoever was willing to hear him. No longer did He believe it necessary to go over all that He had already accomplished. Jesus ‘stayed in the moment;’ in the present. I believe He had you and me in mind and all those who love truth; because He is truth. Jesus never answered Pilate on that subject; since His very presence said it all.

Also, many hundreds of years earlier, there was a man named Abram who had a beautiful wife named Sarai. Abram had already shown himself  obedient to believe, accept and act based on God’s word.

They were a childless couple longing to have children. However; after they became very old, they believed their dream of children was a painful memory, disaffecting their present reality until God spoke to Abram and promised that he would be the “Father of many nations,” through his wife Sarai.

The first thing God did was to change their personal ‘story’ by changing their names to Abraham and Sarah. Abraham means, the father of a multitude and Sarah means, Princess. When their personal stories changed, their outlook on themselves changed too. Can you imagine an aged married couple calling each other, “Princess and Big Daddy” all day, every day?    Genesis – Chapters: 17, 18 and 19

Are we needlessly retelling history/her-story of personal pain, suffering and anguish? If we are, be aware that we are bringing that same outlook into our present. This is not a call to stick ones head in the sand or to live in denial; it is a compassionate request that we decide to release ourselves into a time of refreshing so we won’t miss the miracle of ‘now.’

Old saying of my Mother’s: “Yesterday is gone, tomorrow isn’t promised, what we have is today; which is a gift of God; that is why it is called: The Present.   Be Blessed!

Paradox of Anguish

What is “UP” with all the turmoil, stress, suicide and melt-downs we see spilling from so many people in America and all over the world? Does the Bible say anything about it?

“If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray; and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.”    II Chronicles 7:14

I taught on this a while ago regarding covenant contracts. Often (sadly), Believer’s do NOT meet the conditions the Lord God sets for us to meet: Humility; Prayer; Seek Him; and Repentance. These are covenant-conditions and there are many others throughout the Word.  Similar to any other covenant (or contract); each party must be willing to “do their part.” We often make things a lot tougher than they need to be. Just like any other good parent that must hold back rewards from disobedient children; I believe the Lord weeps over us, like He did over Jerusalem who blocked their own blessings from Messiah.–we make things so hard on ourselves.

Prayer: “Lord, you only are God and your plans are good. Help us to “act” upon your word; realizing it is not how we ‘see‘ things, but it is what yousay.’ We ask for your blessing of direction upon our heart and mind, submitting fully in loving trust to you; even though we can’t always “see” what it all means or comprehend, where it’s all is going.” We ask this in your precious name Lord Jesus. Amen†

Be Blessed!
